KFC, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut are among the companies that have applied for NFT and metaverse trademarks

The Metaverse is growing, with a range of businesses taking an interest in it. Recently, Yum! Brands, which includes Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), has submitted multiple trademark applications for NFTs and metaverse products and services. The applications were filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on March 25, 2022. It shows plans to expand these brands into NFTs and virtual products and services, including virtual food and beverage products, retail services, and online virtual restaurants. Other fast food brands to have taken similar actions include McDonald’s and Inspire Brands, the owner of Arby’s, Baskin-Robbins, Buffalo Wild Wings, Jimmy John’s, and Sonic.
