Robots can reduce CPG human resource costs, survey reveals

According to PMMI Business Intelligence’s 2022 report, “Challenges and Opportunities for Packaging and Processing Operations,” both consumer packaged goods companies and manufacturing companies are finding it hard to recruit and retain employees. In a survey, 93% of respondents revealed that they were struggling to find skilled applicants for vacancies within their companies.

Many poll respondents thought that new technology could aid in the core issues of recruiting, retention, and training. 70% of businesses believe robots will have a moderate or large influence on addressing labour shortages in their facility. Over half of CPGs believe that cobots will have little or no benefit. Automation has proven to be an important priority for businesses aiming to cut personnel.
