Walmart is taking a step forward to offer a personalised shopping experience to its consumers by expanding its virtual try-on services in partnership with Memomi, an AR optical tech company. Currently, the partnership is based on the virtual try-on experience for eyewear only, covering 2,800 Walmart Vision Centres and 550 Sam’s Clubs. Although Memomi’s technology can be used across various products like fashion, footwear, and beauty, the retailer is focused on leveraging Memomi’s capabilities in virtual optical try-on, as of now. Walmart is investing more in virtual try-on technologies like the acquisition of Zeekit, which helped it launch an AI-powered clothing try-on. Additionally, Walmart deployed an AR feature that allows users to see furniture and home décor items in their own homes.
